Protecting Your Home From the Inside Out: Moisture and Fungus Control
Moisture is the real threat to your home's structure. Neglected basics like worn toilet wax seals or unsealed thresholds let water in, and once wood stays damp, wood-destroying fungus can take hold. Damaged, moist wood also draws general insects under and around the home, but our main job is stopping the damage before it starts.
We usually find this kind of damage during a free home inspection or a Termite and Moisture Inspection for a real estate transaction. Our in-house carpenters can then make the crawl space repairs quickly, whether you're selling or just keeping your home in good shape.
Our crawl space protection focuses on three things:
- Killing active wood-destroying fungus. We treat the fungus directly so it can't keep spreading through the wood.
- Blocking ground water and condensation. We lay down a poly vapor barrier over the ground to keep moisture out of the crawl space.
- Controlling humidity. We install dehumidifier packages that pull relative humidity out of the crawl space.
Beyond that, we also handle:
- Sill plate, band board, girder, and floor joist repair, plus subfloor replacement
- Insulation removal and replacement
- Additional pier systems, secondary girders, and band joists
- Crawl space door replacement
